Appointments can be booked by telephoning the surgery between 8.00 am and 6.30 pm, Monday – Friday.

They can also be booked online (if you have signed up to our online services).

Normal consultation appointments with our GP’s are 10 minutes long. If you think that your problem may take longer, or if you have multiple issues, please inform the receptionist when you book the appointment.

Telephone Appointments

It is possible to ask a GP to ring you back to deal with certain issues, however these are limited and it is not possible to ask for or be given a certain time that they will ring you back.

Same day appointments

Urgent Appointments
These are allocated by the GP via the triage system. If you feel you need to see a GP on the day please phone the surgery at 8am where the reception team will take some details and a brief summary of your symptoms. This information will be put to the GP for them to call you back. Based on your symptoms the GP will offer you a time to come down to the practice on the day or if it is not urgent to be seen immediately you will be offered the appropriate appointment within the time frame the GP feels is appropriate. This could be in 24, 48, or 72 hours.

Home Visits

If it is impossible for you to leave the house to come to the surgery you may request a visit from the GP.  If at all possible please make the request before 10am.  Home visits are done throughout the day and it is not possible to request a time or a particular GP to visit you.

Did not attend appointments

We are currently experiencing a high demand for routine appointment bookings with a GP.

So far in 2018 there has been 1,446 appointments wasted. If you are unable to attend your appointment please can you let the administration team know so somebody else is able to be seen. If you received text message reminders for appointments you are able to cancel via this service. Please speak to reception if you would like to sign up for SMS messaging service and online access.

If you fail to attend more than 3 appointments within a year we will have no other option than to seek to have you removed from the practice list.

The practice is open on a Saturday morning by appointment only and, although the surgery is open, the telephone lines are not staffed. The surgeries alternate between Nurse and GP clinics in order to enable a wider range of access for the patients.

Please note we cannot offer appointments for blood tests on a Saturday due to there being no courier collection on weekends. Patients can however take bloods to North Tyneside Hospital themselves. Please contact admin for more information.
