Welcome to our Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP)

Updated on 26th July 2019 at 10:22 am

The role of the Advanced Nurse Practitioner is becoming increasingly important in general practice. Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs) are able to examine, diagnose, prescribe and refer patients, meaning there is little difference between their role and that of the GP. This can help to alleviate pressure on doctors and the waiting times patients sometimes experience when trying to book a routine appointment with a GP.

Throughout the year the practice will have some routine appointments with an ANP available to book as well as some urgent on the day appointments. These on the day appointments are used by the doctor on call who may decide it is more appropriate for patients to see the ANP when triaging calls.

When booking an appointment, the administration team may ask you for more information regarding your symptoms, this is to ensure you are signposted to the appropriate healthcare professional.

Our current Advanced Nurse Practitioner is Gill Elder.
